Regional Perinatal forums

Overview +

THE NYS REGIONAL PERINATAL FORUMS MISSION STATEMENT:

The Statewide and regional perinatal forums will strive to improve pregnancy outcomes through collaborative efforts, by hospital and non-hospital representatives, to increase access to care, and to address other state and region-wide public health issues relating to maternal and infant health.

Each forum is lead by a steering committee comprised of representatives from the region's hospitals and community based organizations. The forums are chaired by a representative from the community's Regional Perinatal Center and CPPSN. New York Presbyterian Hospital is an active member of the Manhattan Regional Perinatal Forum.

THE RPC's ROLE AS A MEMBER OF THE REGIONAL PERINATAL FORUM
In collaboration with the Comprehensive Prenatal Perinatal Services Network (CPPSN) in the region, convene a group to initiate the development of a regional perinatal forum.
Develop a regional action plan, working together with the CPPSN in the area, in order to:
- identify regional problems, needed resources, and opportunities to improve quality of care;
- work with other stakeholders to implement the plan;
- evaluate the outcomes of implementing the plan;
- communicate regional needs and issues to the Statewide Perinatal Forum.
Provide technical assistance and support to the Department in any emerging or ongoing assistance that may be needed.
Manhattan Regional Perinatal Forum+
The region of New York City was separated into five borough-specific forums to serve its unique and diverse community. New York Presbyterian Hospital has played in active role in the Manhattan Regional Perinatal Forum (MRPF), since it's structuring in 2003, serving as co-chair of the MRPF along side Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership for two years.

THREE PRIMARY GOALS

1. Eliminate Barriers and Health Disparities
2. Assure Quality Care
3. Improve the Health Infrastructure and System

The Manhattan Regional Perinatal Forum agrees that the primary goals will consume a large amount of time. Therefore, the Forum is beginning the quest with Goal Number One.

GOAL ONE:

Eliminate barriers and health disparities in Manhattan perinatal services.

GOAL STATEMENT:

To improve access to services and eliminate disparities in perinatal health outcomes through the removal of economic, social and cultural barriers.

OBJECTIVES:

1. Implement strategies for health promotion and awareness through education and outreach in the schools (Education/Outreach Committee)
2. Standardize data collection tools, including birth certificates, among Manhattan hospitals and community-based organizations (Data Committee)
